A leafy village in Cheshire is not the place you would expect to witness a ground breaking industry first! However on the 15th July 2008 that’s exactly what happened! Armcon unveiled a solution to the ever growing problem of operators wishing to carry more material.
Seminar tents, practical demonstrations and plenty of food and drink were all on offer throughout the day to the many visitors to Armcon Cementech’s works in Poynton, with the star attraction, a gleaming red trailer mounted 10m3 road legal at 44 tonnes volumetric taking pride of place in what could only be described as a mini SED for volumetrics.
Armcon’s new unit has all the same features and benefits of the company’s market leading MCD10MX150 but with a twist!
This unit can legally carry more material, in fact it can operate at 44 tonnes, which means more profit for the owner and fewer trips back to base, and this is more than any other ridged volumetric mixer available on the market today. And if all these benefits weren’t enough of an incentive the unit is mounted on a sliding bogie skeletal which is capable of extending the wheel base to carry the full load and then, contract when on site to improve manoeuvrability.
Tom Baker of Eastern concrete, was one of the many visitors who put the trailer unit to the test around a specially designed on site course. Tom commented that although he currently runs trailer units he was impressed by the sliding bogie and how easy it manoeuvred and its ease of use.
A visit to the seminar tent enlightened listeners to all the legalities and implications of running a trailer mounted mixer. The seminar was delivered on the hour by Armcon’s Technical Manager Richard Calder and covered many aspects of running volumetric mixers, Stockport LGV training were also on hand to give advice and support on driver requirements.
Visitors were treated to demonstrations by Belle Engineering who displayed a range of concrete handling and finishing equipment, Kramer demonstrated on site with their 750T bucket loader; Steve Philips of accumix who have 12 Armcon units displayed his concrete pump system Along with Scania, Hino and Truck Trader magazine on hand to offer advice and the usual array of freebies.
Robert Armstrong, Armcon’s Managing Director commented that he was delighted with the success of the day and the level of support from customers old and new alike. With the effort and commitment Armcon put into this day its no wonder that 3 out of every 4 volumetrics sold are from this company.
Armcon have been immersed in the concrete industry for over 30 years, Trading out of their works in Poynton Cheshire the company leads the volumetric markets and boasts a 5 acre facility with drive in work shop and service bays, Armcon also supplies the precast concrete industry with moulds, chemicals and sundries as well as an extensive hire fleet of static volumetric mixers.
